Today is Taiwan’s 228 Peace Memorial Day. Last night, my family and I went to view the release of sky lanterns. I prayed that everyone could live in a freer, safer, happier, and more beautiful world.
In doing so, I remind myself that the happiness we feel today is not accidental. It does not come from kneeling to anyone, flattering any authority, or swallowing the lies of twisted histories. It is not mere luck.
The frontlines of humanity’s struggle for democracy and freedom have not ceased. Please continue to donate and support Ukraine. The best way to honor those who came before us is to carry forward their spirit, while we still enjoy the happiness they built for us today, and extend it to others.
May a world of freedom and democracy flourish futher on this same Earth, for generations to come, endlessly and without cease.
