I'm a university student in Taiwan and I join the ISEPTUFS (student exchange program in Tokyo University of Foreign Studies) for 2023 spring semester, In the following section, I will mention the application schedule and procedures.
Application procedures
After undergoing the selection procedure in the home university on June 2022, take your time to wait the following letter.
Finally receive the letter about handing in further documents from my home university on September.
Must hand in document:
- Application form
- Study Plan
- Certificate of Health
- Application for Certificate of Eligibility
- Essay for the JASSO Scholarship
- Latest official academic record at home university written in English or Japanese
- A copy of Passport
- Official documents to show sufficient funds for studying in Japan such as; proof of scholarship, bank statement or income verification of the supporter
- 3 extra photographs
- ISEPTUFS_CHECKLIST
The deadline is in early November, It is friendly for the applicant to prepare all the documents. However, it takes time on preparing "Certificate of Health". Some "body checkup" items are different from what we usually do in Taiwan. Please pay attention to it.
Further more, in this section, also need to fill up the "Online application form" and "COE application form". It is really helpful that TUFS member give us a really intuitive website interface and a reference.

I receive an acceptance notification email from TUFS on mid January. Also, they offer following information to me.
- Your pre-ID (The official ID number will be announce in late February.)
- Certificate of Eligibility and Letter of Acceptance (Will be sent to home country university on late February.)
- Brief Schedule in April (About dorm move-in date and medical check-up.)
- Schedules from Acceptance to Arrival
- JASSO Scholarship (To be announced in late February.)
- Accommodation (To be announced in February.)
Flight schedule survey
In the mid February, I received the letter from TUFS to fill up the form of my arrival flight and others information related to immigration.
- Arrival information (google form, fill up before 3th Marth)
- Japanese Border Measures
- Check the current Border Measures before departure
**Highly recommend to book the flight before early April vacation in Taiwan, or the ticket price will be expensive.
