這次《Teen News Today》我們要來談論近期全球重要的國際新聞。2026 年 2 月底，美國與以色列對伊朗發起軍事行動，導致中東局勢急速惡化。
上面這張照片，是領導伊朗宗教政府長達 36 年的阿亞圖拉·阿里·哈米尼( Ayatollah Ali Khamenei) 在攻擊中喪生，數千名民眾走上街頭為他哀悼。

第一部分 新聞解析
【原文】On Saturday, the US and Israel attacked Iran, killing Iran’s leader. The US says it wants to completely change Iran’s government. Iran has responded by attacking US military bases across the Middle East. There are serious concerns that the war could spread.
【翻譯】 週六，美國與以色列對伊朗發動攻擊，並擊斃了伊朗領導人。美國表示想要徹底改變伊朗政府。伊朗則透過攻擊分布在中東各地的美軍基地作為回擊。有嚴重的擔憂戰爭可能會擴大。
"On Saturday, the US and Israel attacked Iran, killing Iran’s leader."
這裡的 killing 原本是 and killed...，縮寫成 killing 意思是「伴隨發生的結果」，這能讓句子讀起來更流暢、更專業
"Iran has responded by attacking US military bases across the Middle East."
- 現在完成式： ... has responded .....。 使用現在完成式的原因是強調這件事「已發生，且影響持續到現在」
- respond BY + V-ing (透過...方式來回應)
- across 意思是橫跨/遍及，這裡指美軍基地遍布在整個中東地區
【原文】Working together, the US and Israel launched a major attack on Iran on Saturday. The attack targeted Iran’s capital, Tehran, and several other large cities. The US said that it was focusing on military targets. Hundreds of people have died, many of them civilians.
【翻譯】 美國與以色列採取協同行動，於週六對伊朗發起大規模攻擊。此次攻擊目標鎖定伊朗首都德黑蘭及其他大的城市。美方聲稱行動重點在於軍事目標，但已有數百人死亡，其中許多是平民。
"Working together, the US and Israel launched a major attack on Iran on Saturday."
動詞搭配詞： launch an attack。我們在說「發動」攻擊通常不用 start 或 begin，而是用 launch（原意是發射火箭或新產品上市）
"Hundreds of people have died, many of them civilians."
- 在數量表達，可以使用 Hundreds of... (數以百計的)，注意 hundred 要加 s
- ..., many of them civilians. 這是新聞中描述傷亡最常見的簡潔寫法，省略了 who are，完整意思是 ..., and many of them are civilians.
【原文】US President Donald Trump described the attack as a “major combat operation”. Mr. Trump has offered different reasons for the attack, including preventing Iran from developing nuclear weapons. Not all of Mr Trump’s reasons are supported by the facts. Mr Trump has made it clear that he wants Iran’s people to take control of the government.
【翻譯】 美國總統川普將這次襲擊描述成一場「重大戰鬥行動」。川普先生為這次攻擊提出了不同的理由，包括防止伊朗研發核武。然而，川普先生所提出的理由並非全部都有事實根據。川普先生已清楚說明，他希望伊朗人民能奪取政府的控制權。
"Major combat operation"
- Combat 指的是「戰鬥」，通常軍事新聞中，這個字比 fight 更正式、專業。
"Mr Trump has made it clear that he wants..."
- 這是一個非常實用的 B1 句型，表示「明確表示某事」。
- 這裡的 it 是虛受詞，真正的受詞是後面的 that 子句。這種寫法能讓語氣顯得更正式、更有力
例如：The teacher made it clear that we must hand in our homework on time. (老師 明確表示我們必須準時交作業。)
"...preventing Iran from developing nuclear weapons."
- 阻止某事發生：Prevent ... from＋V-ing
例如：The rain prevented us from going to the park. (大雨阻止了我們去公園。)
【原文】Israel and Saudi Arabia encouraged Mr. Trump to attack Iran. Israel launched the first attacks on Saturday. One of its early goals was to take out Iran’s leadership. Iran’s highest leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, and many other Iranian leaders were killed in the attacks.
【翻譯】 以色列與沙烏地阿拉伯鼓勵川普先生攻擊伊朗。以色列在週六發動了首波襲擊，以色列早期目標之一是剷除伊朗的領導層。伊朗最高領袖阿亞圖拉·阿里·哈米尼以及多位伊朗領導人，皆在這些攻擊中喪生。
"...to take out Iran’s leadership."
- take out 不僅是「帶出去」，在軍事或動作新聞中，更常表示「摧毀、消滅、剷除」
"...many other Iranian leaders were killed in the attacks."
- 被動語態句型：
Be動詞 + 過去分詞 (V-p.p.)。
這句使用『被動式』 強調的是「被殺害」這個結果，而不是誰動的手
"One of its early goals..."
- 文中its 指的是前一句提到的 Israel (以色列)，同學們在閱讀時要試著找出代名詞指向的對象，這對閱讀理解測驗是非常有幫助喔!
【原文】Iran responded by sending missiles and drones to attack Israel. Iran has also targeted US warships and US military bases in countries across the Middle East. The attacks by US and Israel have caused widespread damage in Iran, as well as injuries and deaths. Iran claims that one attack hit a girls’ school and killed over one hundred students. Iran’s attacks in response have also caused some damage, injuries, and deaths. So far, three US soldiers have lost their lives.

"...have caused widespread damage... as well as injuries and deaths."
在新聞報導中，cause（造成）後面會常看到接下面三個名詞
- Damage (損害)：注意這個字通常不可數
- Injuries (受傷)：指身體受傷的狀態
- Deaths (死亡)：指死亡人數或事件
"...widespread damage in Iran, as well as injuries and deaths."
as well as 意思等同於and，但as well as常用來強調「除了...還有...」。把這學起來。他可以在寫文章時，句子比單純用and更具深度、層次感。
【原文】The US and Israel continued to attack Iran for a second day on Sunday. Mr. Trump says the war could go on for a month or more. Mr. Trump has encouraged Iran’s soldiers to surrender, and for Iran’s people to take control of the government. It’s not clear how the US and Israel expect the war to end, or who might lead Iran once the fighting is over.
【翻譯】 美國與以色列在週日連續第二天對伊朗發動攻擊。川普表示，這場戰爭可能會持續一個月或更久。川普先生已鼓勵伊朗士兵投降，並號召伊朗人民奪取政府的控制權。目前尚不清楚美國與以色列預期戰爭將如何結束，也不清楚一旦戰鬥結束，誰可能會領導伊朗。
"...the war could go on for a month or more."
go on 意思是「持續/繼續」，通常後面接 for + 「一段時間」
"...encouraged Iran’s soldiers to surrender..."
encourage 用法 encourage + 人 + to + 動詞原型
對比我們剛上一段所提到的 prevent + 人 + from + V-ing 是「阻止」，這段是則是「鼓勵」。
"It’s not clear how the US and Israel expect... or who might lead Iran..."
這是學生最容易混淆的地方。在 "It’s not clear" 之後接問句時，語句要恢復為「主詞 + 動詞」，不能用疑問句，此部分要特別留意
- It's not clear how do they expect... (Ｘ)
- It's not clear how they expect... (Ｏ)
【原文】The massive attack was unusual because it wasn’t triggered by an immediate threat from Iran. It’s a war Mr. Trump chose to have now, not one that was needed to protect the US.
【翻譯】 這次大規模攻擊很不尋常，因為它並非由來自伊朗的立即威脅所引發。這是川普先生選擇在此時發動的一場戰爭，而不是一場為了保護美國而必須進行的戰爭。
"...it wasn’t triggered by an immediate threat..."
前面有提到被動式，這一段又使用了被動語態，我們再複習一次被動式 be 動詞 + V-p.p.
Trigger 原意是「扣動扳機」，在新聞中常用來表示「引發/觸發」。這句話解釋了攻擊不是因為「被威脅」而產生的反應。
"It’s a war (that) Mr. Trump chose to have now..."
當關係代名詞 that/which 在子句中當「受詞」時（川普選擇了這場戰爭），可省略。
例子. This is the book (that) I bought yesterday. (這是我昨天買的書。)
"...not one that was needed to protect the US."
這裡的 needed 修飾前面的 one（即 war），表示「被需要的」、「必要的」
【原文】Many experts see the actions of the US and Israel as illegal under international law. This isn’t the first time that this has happened. Earlier this year, the US attacked Venezuela and captured its president in a move that was largely seen as illegal.
【翻譯】許多專家認為美國與以色列的行為在國際法下是非法的。這並非首度發生類似事件。今年早些時候，美國攻擊了委內瑞拉並抓捕了其總統，那一舉動也被廣泛視為非法行為。
"...illegal under international law."
當我們提到「根據某種法律/規範」時，英文常用介系詞 under
例子.It is illegal under the new rule. (根據新規定，這是非法的。)
"...was largely seen as illegal."
被動語態：be 動詞 + V-p.p. + as (被視為...)，這在新聞評論中極度常見的句型，用來表達大眾或專家的普遍觀點
例子. He is seen as a hero in his country. (他在他的國家被視為英雄。)
"...in a move that was largely seen as illegal."
這裡的 move 翻譯為「舉動/行動」，用來總結前一句提到的整件事
【原文】The international response to the war on Iran has been mixed. The leader of the United Nations condemned the attacks. Many countries were unhappy with Iran’s government, but still don’t believe the attacks were okay. Other countries, such as Canada and Australia, supported the US action.
【翻譯】國際社會對伊朗戰爭的反應不一。聯合國秘書長（領導人）譴責了這些攻擊。許多國家雖然對伊朗政府感到不滿，但仍然不認為這些攻擊是正當的。其他國家，如加拿大和澳洲，則支持美國的行動。
"The international response... has been mixed."
現在完成被動式句型： has/have + been + 形容詞
在新聞中，"mixed" 不代表「混合」，而是指「正反意見都有、反應不一」，使用現在完成式是因為這種「反應不一」的情況從攻擊開始一直持續到現在。
"Other countries, such as Canada and Australia..."
such as 指的是用來列舉同類別的事物。
【原文】The attack also seems to go against US law, since the president doesn’t have the power to declare a war. Only the US Congress has that power. Many members of Congress are upset about Mr. Trump taking action without their approval. Congress is expected to discuss the war and Mr. Trump’s actions later this week.
【翻譯】這次攻擊似乎也違反了美國法律，因為總統並沒有宣戰的權力。只有美國國會擁有該項權力。許多國會議員對於川普在未經他們批准的情況下採取行動感到憤怒。國會預計將在本週晚些時候討論這場戰爭以及川普的行為。
