In January 2026, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin introduced the Circular Economy Investment Policy and the Warehousing Policy to promote sustainable economic growth. The circular economy policy focuses on developing recycling industries and green technologies by offering financial incentives to businesses. These include a 10% capital subsidy, employment incentives, and additional support such as training and payroll subsidies. Companies must meet requirements like minimum investment and job creation to qualify. The main goal is to transform waste into valuable resources while encouraging industrial development.

In addition, the Warehousing Policy aims to strengthen logistics and storage infrastructure across the state. It provides incentives for both new (greenfield) and expanding (brownfield) warehouse projects, as long as they operate within Tamil Nadu. The policy also promotes sustainability by offering subsidies for environmentally friendly initiatives, such as energy-efficient or green warehouse designs. These measures are intended to improve supply chain efficiency while reducing environmental impact.
Overall, these policies demonstrate a strategic effort to combine sustainability with economic growth. By using financial incentives, the government encourages businesses to adopt circular practices and invest in green infrastructure. This reflects a broader shift toward a circular economy model, where resources are reused and waste is minimized, helping to build a more resilient and environmentally responsible economy.
