神農宮可考之建立年代為清光緒十二年（1886 年），為典型「耕讀傳家」客家聚落中常見的廟宇。其原始建築形式為二廳二堂式格局，中軸設有天井，引入自然採光，使空間明亮而莊重。
民國八十八年，神農宮改建為二樓式建築；畫中所呈現者，為改建前的舊貌。透過水彩的筆觸，記錄下廟宇原有的結構與氛圍，也保存了一段屬於地方信仰與生活記憶的時光片段。
The Shennong Temple can be traced back to the 12th year of the Guangxu reign of the Qing dynasty (1886). It is a representative temple commonly found in Hakka settlements that uphold the tradition of “cultivating the land and valuing education.” The original structure followed a two-hall, two-wing layout, with a central courtyard that allowed natural light to illuminate the interior, creating a space that was both bright and dignified.
In 1999, the temple was reconstructed as a two-story building. The painting depicts the temple as it appeared before this renovation. Through watercolor, the work captures the temple’s original architectural form and atmosphere, preserving a fragment of time shaped by local faith and everyday life.
