Now my charms are all o'erthrown,

在 Prospero 這段收場白裡，他說如今他已盡釋前嫌，化解了一切恩怨。他將拋棄一切魔法，甘願成為一位羸弱的老者，回歸久別的故鄉。
值得玩味的是 Prospero 是以一個受制於 (confined by) 戲劇框架的角色身份對我們 (觀眾) 說話；如今，戲演完了，他請求我們以鼓掌叫好的善意告訴他，他取悅觀眾的責任已盡，如今我們該放他自由，一如 Prospero 在道出收場白之前釋放了精靈艾立兒那般：「Then to the elements / Be free…」Prospero 也請求我們如此釋放他，一個如精靈般虛幻卻又真實的戲劇角色，讓他回歸宇宙裡交織萬幻的元素 (elements) …
