The Mysterious Power
"Ugh... it hurts... Where am I?"
Leshi woke up after his collapse to find himself tucked into a bed.
"This is my home. I carried you back after you passed out. You’re finally awake—how are you feeling? Is your body okay?" Hu Ji looked at Leshi with a worried expression.
"I’m fine, just a bit exhausted. By the way... is that girl hurt?" Leshi asked anxiously about Koharu’s condition.
"Worry about yourself first. Koharu is fine; the village chief already took her home. More importantly... what on earth is going to with that power of yours? How did your body emit that golden light? How did you wipe out those monsters? A normal Beastman child couldn't possibly possess that kind of power. Who are you, really? Where are your parents?" Hu Ji bombarded him with questions, her voice filled with disbelief.
"I... I don't know what you're talking about. Back then, I was just holding Koharu and thought I was a goner. I was so scared I didn't know what to do... I probably just fainted from the stress." Leshi genuinely had no idea what she was saying.
"My parents? I really don't know who I am, or if I even have parents. All I know is that I just suddenly appeared there. While I was trying to figure things out, I heard a cry for help and found you guys. The only thing I remember is the name 'Leshi'."
The Fox's Analysis
Could it be that he has lost his memory?Hu Ji fell into deep thought after hearing his explanation. 'Canine Fang Village is currently the largest Beastman settlement. Commerce is thriving there, and information is dense—unlike our isolated Fox Spirit Village. Maybe we can find out about this child’s past there. But it’s a long way from here, and the path is crawling with monsters. If he has parents, they’d be nearby searching for him; it's unlikely a child this small would wander off so far alone. And that incredible power... it defies explanation.'
"Whether you’re lying or not, or whatever that power is—it doesn't matter. Nothing can be hidden from a Fox Spirit!"
Hu Ji activated her [Insight] skill. Concentrating her mana into her eyes, she stared intensely at Leshi. In her vision, Leshi’s data as a Canine Beastman appeared, surrounded by a swirling golden mana. But just as she tried to analyze his soul, she was blocked by that golden aura. It was as if the mana itself possessed a will of its own, shielding his soul from any prying eyes.
"What the hell is this thing?! You... you unidentified creature!" Hu Ji blurted out in a moment of agitation.
She thought to herself: 'Every living being has a soul. The soul is the source of all energy and information; it cannot lie. Any high-ranking Fox Spirit should be able to see right through it. Why can't I read his data?'
The Magic Aptitude Test
Realizing her outburst had frightened Leshi, Hu Ji quickly masked her expression and regained her composure. She took a notebook from her pocket and began recording this strange phenomenon:
Subject: Unidentified Being (Temp Name: Leshi) A peculiar creature whose soul cannot be perceived through magic. Is he truly a Canine Beastman, or an unknown species? Will continue observation. One day, I will uncover his true nature!
Seeing Leshi’s unease, Hu Ji gently comforted him and apologized for her lapse in manners. Internally, her curiosity was burning. 'If I keep this "unidentified creature" here for research, I might discover data never before recorded in academia. If I publish this, I’ll get the naming rights! My name will be immortalized in the history of magic!'
Hu Ji patted Leshi on the shoulder with a warm, practiced smile. "There is a way to find out your true nature. Follow me."
She excitedly led Leshi to a crystal ball sitting on her laboratory table. "Every living being possesses mana. It is a biological energy as unique as a fingerprint, etched with the ripples of one's soul."
"Mana is divided into six main elements: the common four—Earth, Fire, Wind, and Water—and the rare Light and Dark. Only those with a corresponding affinity can use that element's magic. Remember the 'Freezing Wind' I used to ice those wolves? That belongs to Water magic."
Hu Ji explained the world's magical laws like a walking textbook. She then placed her right hand on the crystal and channeled her mana. The interior of the sphere began to glow with a brilliant, watery blue light.
"See? The crystal displays the user's attribute. Earth is yellow, Fire is red, Wind is green, Water is blue, Light is white, and Dark is black. Since it’s glowing blue, my attribute is Water. Now, it’s your turn."
The Impossible Result
Leshi nervously placed his hand on the crystal, unsure of what to do.
"Deep breath. Relax. Feel the mana flowing through you like blood. Concentrate that focus into your right hand, and the mana will release naturally," Hu Ji guided him patiently, like a teacher with a small child.
"Like... this?" Leshi slowly felt a surge of energy flow toward his palm, being absorbed by the crystal.
"Alright, let's see what you are. Will it be the rare Light or Dark attribute?" Hu Ji appeared calm on the surface, but her heart was racing to see the result.
However, no matter how much mana Leshi poured in, the crystal ball remained completely lifeless. Not a single spark of light appeared.
"No way... is it broken? Or do I just have no talent for this?" Leshi looked at Hu Ji, terrified like a child who had just broken a toy.
"Impossible! It was working just fine when I demonstrated it! I can clearly feel the mana entering it, yet there's no reaction... Could it be an unknown attribute? You... you truly are an unidentified creature!"
Hu Ji cried out in a near-breakdown, scribbling furiously in her notebook. 'What did I do to deserve this? Is the universe punishing my pursuit of knowledge by throwing this freakish anomaly at me?!'
嗚好痛，我怎麼會在這？在昏倒之後雷希醒來發現自己被安置床上。
這裡是我家，你倒下後我就把你揹回家中安置。你可終於醒了，怎麼樣身體還好嗎？狐姬擔憂著看著雷希。
我沒事，只是有點疲憊。對了那女孩有沒有受傷？雷希著急詢問狐姬小春狀況。
先擔心你自己吧，小春她沒事已經由村長送回家中。順帶一提你那力量到底怎麼回事？怎麼身體散發出金黃色光芒還能把魔物消滅？一般犬獸人不可能有這股力量況且還是小孩，你到底是誰，你父母有在哪裡？狐姬不可自信的不斷詢問...
.我不知道你在說什麼？當時我抱著小春以為自己要完了害怕的不知道該怎麼做，可能因為緊張嚇得暈過去。雷希不明白為何狐姬在說什麼。
爸媽嗎？我真的不知道自己是誰也不確定有沒有爸媽，我只知道不知為何我就出現在那裡。當我在思考自己的事時突然聽見求救聲我就前往查看發現你們，我唯一有印象的只有雷希這個名字。
難道是失去記憶？狐姬聽完雷希的解釋若有所思的想著：犬牙村是目前最大的犬獸人村落，那裡商業發達情報會比較密集，跟我們這與世隔絕的狐妖村不同，或許能打聽到這孩子的過去。犬牙村距離這裡很遠路途中可能遭遇不少魔物，這孩子年齡這麼小如果有父母應該在附近，早就急著找他不太可能走失，而且他那不可思議的力量根本無法解釋。
不論你是不是說謊，那股力量是什麼都無所謂，在狐妖面前任何隱瞞都沒用！
狐姬發動識破技能將自己魔力集中在自己眼睛往雷希身上注視，眼中浮現雷希犬獸人情報與身邊圍繞金黃色魔力正當狐姬想解析雷希的靈魂時卻被金黃色魔力阻擋無法看透，那股魔力就像有意識般阻擾著任何想讀書雷希靈魂的人。
這到底是什麼鬼東西啊？你這不明生物！狐姬激動的不小心暴粗口，心理想著只要是活著的生物都會有靈魂，靈魂是所有物種能量與情報根源無法掩飾與說謊，只要是高階狐妖都能看穿其中性質，為何自己讀不到他的資料？
很快狐姬意識到自己失常嚇到雷希，收起面癱的表情冷靜從口袋中拿起筆記紀錄著這奇怪的現像。上面寫著：不明生物：目前簡稱雷希是個無法用魔法看穿靈魂的奇特生物，他真的是犬獸人嗎還是未知物種？將持續觀察總有一天我要揭發他的真面目！
眼見雷希的不安，狐姬溫柔的安撫雷希為自己的失態道歉，心理好奇想著這不明生物身上到底還隱藏什麼秘密？只要把他留下來調查說不定能發現學術上未曾記載的資料，只要能發布學術我就能獲得命名權，我的名字將永遠紀錄在學界。
狐姬拍拍雷希肩膀露出溫柔的笑容說有個方法可以知道你的性質跟我來，狐姬興奮的拉著雷希的手前往她實驗室桌上的水晶只要是活著的生物都有魔力，那是生物的生命能量如同指紋般獨一無二，刻畫著每個人靈魂的波紋。
魔力主要又分為六種屬性，常見的四元素土火風水與稀有的光暗六種。
只有擁有對應屬性的人能使用對應屬性魔法，還記得嗎？我在草原上冰凍狼使用的凍結之風屬於水魔法。
狐姬如同教科書般把這世界魔法知識講解給雷希，說玩便將右手放置水晶球上注入魔力，水晶球內部散發出亮眼的水藍色光芒。
看到了嗎？我在水晶球中注入魔力，他會顯示使用者魔力的屬性浮現對應光芒。土屬性為黃色、火屬性紅色、風屬性綠色、水屬性藍色、光屬性白色、暗屬性黑色。
剛才散發藍色光芒代表我的屬性是水屬性，能使用水屬性魔法，接下來換你了。
雷希緊張的把右手放置水晶球上，不知道該怎麼做。
深呼吸放輕鬆，感受體內魔力如血液般流動，將注意力集中至右手施力，魔力自動就會施放，狐姬彷彿教小孩般耐心在旁指導。
是這樣嗎？雷希緩緩感受到身體部分能量流動到手掌，逐步被水晶球吸收。
好了讓我看看你到底是什麼屬性，會是稀有的光暗屬性嗎？狐姬表面冷靜內心早已焦急的想趕快見到結果。
然而不論雷希再怎麼注入魔力水晶球等多少時間都不為所動，完全沒有浮現任何光芒......
不會吧！難道壞掉了嗎？還是我真的沒有這方面天賦！雷希像犯錯的小孩一樣害怕的看著狐姬。
不可能，水晶球直到剛才示範時都還在發光怎麼可能壞掉！明明能感受到魔力注入卻沒有反應，難到是未知屬性？你這不明生物！
狐姬崩潰的大喊邊拿出筆記本紀錄，心理想著我到底造了什麼孽，老天才會讓我遇上這奇葩物種來懲罰我的知識！
