The Bound of Fate
Her heart bears the scars of the "Blood Moon Massacre," a night when she lost her entire family to a monster invasion. It was the warmth of Lexi’s comfort that pulled her from the abyss of despair. Because she knows the agony of loss, she views her companions as her only true family and is more sensitive to their feelings than anyone else.
Chapter: The Crimson Omen of Moonshadow Village
Moonshadow Village is a settlement bathed in the eternal glow of the full moon. Its people are naturally hospitable, believing that visitors from afar bring both vital information and economic prosperity. They often hope travelers will settle down and help their community flourish.
After the suffocating atmosphere of Leo’s Lion King City, Leshi and his companions finally found a moment of peace. Welcomed by the festive crowds, they were hosted by Wolfe’s family. The villagers were captivated by their tales of adventure, eager for firsthand news of the outside world. As they shared their stories, Wolfe’s admiration for the group—and Leshi in particular—grew, strengthening their bond.
However, as the party relaxed, the pristine white moon began to bleed into a terrifying, abnormal crimson. Hu Ji sensed a violent shift in the surrounding mana and the frantic agitation of nearby monsters.
"This is bad... why is the millennial Blood Moon occurring tonight?!" She screamed for everyone to wake up and stay alert; the monsters would soon be driven into a bloodthirsty frenzy. The night was destined to be long and agonizing.
Under Hu Ji’s direction, the villagers scrambled to secure the children and fortify the village. Despite his exhaustion, Leshi commanded Igg to take to the skies for surveillance, while Baer and Taia stayed behind to protect the children and support the local militia. Leshi, Leo, and Hu Ji took their positions to guard the village perimeter.
The news Igg brought back was the worst possible scenario: the nearby monster dens had erupted in collective madness. The sheer number of beasts meant the villagers had no chance of escaping; the town would soon be overwhelmed. Even Igg, with his mastery of the winds, wasn't sure how long he could hold out. It became clear that even with the villagers' help, surviving this catastrophe would be nearly impossible.
The Longest Night: The Siege of Moonshadow
With a sharp twitch of her eye, Hu Ji signaled the warning—they had arrived.
A tide of monsters, like a dark, surging river, flooded into the village entrance. Though individually weaker than those found in labyrinths, their sheer numbers were overwhelming. Igg, Hu Ji, Leo, and Leshi fought side by side until they were on the brink of collapse. Meanwhile, Wolfe threw herself into the fray, fighting desperately to hold the line for the villagers.
Watching the supplies Baer had packed disappear at a terrifying rate, Leshi felt a growing sense of dread. If they didn’t expend resources to wipe out the monsters, they would be drowned by the horde; yet, at this rate, they would soon be left with nothing. Every potion and every ounce of strength had to be used with surgical precision.
As the tsunami of monsters was slowly thinned out, the group’s mana began to run dry. Their limbs grew heavy and unresponsive. A stray group of monsters broke through, charging toward Baer and Taia. Despite their immense strength, the two warriors were shackled by their duty—they could not fight at full capacity while shielding the terrified children behind them.
Finally, the first light of dawn broke, and the Blood Moon began to set. But the victory was hollow. In the chaos of the final assault, Wolfe’s parents had sacrificed their lives to shield the children from the monsters' claws
The Aftermath: A Bond Sealed in Rain
After the battle, the village chief began the grim task of counting the casualties and arranging burials for the fallen. Wolfe, having witnessed her parents' death with her own eyes, fled the village in a haze of grief and rage, seeking isolation. The sky itself seemed to mourn, pouring down a heavy, cold rain upon the grieving land.
Unable to leave her in such pain, Leshi followed closely behind, leaving the rest of the villagers to the care of his companions. He maintained a respectful distance, ready to intervene if danger arose, yet Wolfe eventually noticed his presence.
"Why are you following me?!" Wolfe screamed through her tears. "Go away! I don't need your help!"
Leshi replied with a voice as soft as the falling rain, "Because we are companions."
Wolfe turned on him, her voice trembling with anger and disbelief. "We’ve only known each other for a few days! How much could you possibly know about me?"
Leshi stood silently for a moment before answering, "I don’t know. But I do know one thing for certain—if I leave you alone now, I will regret it for the rest of my life.
The Sixth Shadow: Acceptance and New Journey
Leshi’s answer only fueled Wolfe’s resentment, causing her to quicken her pace to get away. But Leshi followed, neither rushing nor falling behind, staying with her until her strength finally failed.
"Stop following me! Just leave me alone!" Wolfe sobbed, collapsing from exhaustion.
Looking at her with deep sorrow, Leshi asked softly, "Why must you choose to cry all by yourself?"
That single question shattered Wolfe's remaining defenses. No longer able to hold back the tide of her emotions, she threw herself into Leshi’s arms and wailed. Leshi held her gently, offering a silent, steady comfort as she poured out her grief in his embrace.
With Leshi’s support, Wolfe eventually returned to Moonshadow Village. With the help of the companions and the villagers, she laid her parents to rest and began the arduous process of rebuilding. However, Wolfe remained lost in a fog of sorrow; every corner of the village reminded her of the Blood Moon tragedy.
Sensing her lingering pain, Leshi proposed that she join them on their adventure, hoping that new horizons might heal her wounded heart. Grateful for the salvation of her village and desperate to leave the land of her sorrows, Wolfe accepted, becoming Leshi’s sixth companion.
